Boarding School
Wednesday October 24, 2007
Dear Alice,
I have come to respect you so much through reading your articles/books/interviews. I am a counsellor in training and would so appreciate your views on the English system of sending children to boarding schools. I plan to specialise in counselling for survivors of boarding school. I spent 7 years in a convent school for girls and the damage it has done to me has affected my life and relationships so negatively. My childhood came to a shuddering halt when I was 9. I only saw my parents 3 times a year and otherwise was ‘farmed out’ to various places.
Many thanks, I totally understand if you don’t have the time to reply to me, my warm regards to you, D.
AM: I take the time to answer you because I want to support you in your plan to write about the boarding schools, especially because you are a victim yourself and you seem to be aware of the awful consequences of such treatment for a child. Good luck!
