To stand up for the future

To stand up for the future
Wednesday June 06, 2007

Good Evening Dr. Miller,

Thank you. I don’t know of any other words at this moment that are most fitting for the work that you have contributed to this world. I have my eyes closed and I am allowing myself to write without the benefit of editing or changing my mind.

I am an adult who was abused as a child. Physical neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, sexual abuse and verbal abuse. I promised myself that I would be a voice to those without a voice. I would stand when others sat. It is not in the action, it is inaction that “allows” society to call child abuse a “private” family issue. It is imperative that those who have been abused as children to stand for the future, the future for themselves, and the future of those in the current shoes we had previously walked in.

I am the mother of a beautiful 21 month old boy. I desire deeply to learn and keep from the cycle of perpetuating into his, mine and the world’s future.

I am a voice.
One of many.
One of millions.
Hear me now.

Thank you Dr. Miller for being a voice.

If there is anything I can do.
Anything.

My sincerest regards, A. M. P.

AM: I am so glad about your “standing up when the others sat” and about your clear insight that CHILD ABUSE IS NOT A FAMILY MATTER, as you write. In my opinion, it is the industry that PRODUCES NEW CHILD ABUSERS with the permission of the whole society, of all governments, and of all religions.
