Where are we going…

Dear Alice Miller,

Thank you for being so informative. Sharing your knowledge and experiences has helped me to open my eyes, heart and body to understand about my personal life.

Over the last few weeks and after having read a couple of your books once more I am puzzled at the question that I do not yet have found any answer.

What is the driving force for men – mostly around their 20s- to play a game which imitates the real military conflicts. These games are based on historical battles and the equipment and the clothing with special weapons and uniforms and hierarchical ranking positions make a difference to many men. I am not certain whether to approve of these out-of-doors activities? In my opinion, warlike games may relieve the tension and need for physical exercise. On the other hand, the scenes, such USA versus Vietnam, with about a hundred men on either sides and being enemies fighting each other with real-life like weapon (except for bullets being made of plastic) seem to prepare these male participants for war.

My knowledge of these popular games is not sufficient to make any judgments. Therefore, I turn to you to ask for your opinion of these games. There are not any female participants, and I have not heard of any truce nor seizefire negogiations.

Hopefully there are some. I wouldn’t want my children to take part in these games.
