Prisoners of Childhood or Drama of the Gifted Child?

Prisoners of Childhood or Drama of the Gifted Child?
Friday June 13, 2008

Dear Dr. Miller,

Twenty years ago I read Prisoners of Childhood and found it profoundly true and moving. Ten years ago I read your revision of that book, The Drama of the Gifted Child. All-in-all, I preferred the earlier book. Possibly that was because 1) it was the first of your books I read or 2) I am man, and Drama felt to me to have more of a slant toward women than Prisoners. Do you recommend one or the other of these two to read first for someone who has not read either of them before?

Sincerely, R. S.

Today, you can only buy the new edition of the Drama: Basic Books 2008.
