Thank you for all that you do
Tuesday July 10, 2007

Dear Alice:
I just wanted to thank you for all that you do. I’ve written a novel about my abusive upbringing, and was lucky enough to discover some of the things you talk about instinctually, but reading your books has enabled these discoveries to become more and more conscious. And made me realize how destructive attachments to abusive parents can be.
Once again, thank you for bringing into the light what has been kept in the dark for far too long.
Best wishes, G. S.

AM: You are so right: Attachment to abusive parents can be very destructive and self-destructive and it is worse that this truth is rarely understood and mostly denied out of fear of punishment. All religions protect the parents and cultivate the blindness and submission of the child. As a result, the doctors too are not allowed to recognize the true reasons for the illnesses they are confronted with. This global denial leads to a global madness that seems “normal” because it is never questioned and strongly supported by religious authorities.
